Help Starts Here
United Way’s 2-1-1 is a free, confidential helpline that connects community members with local resources to meet everyday needs and the immediate needs of those in crisis. Trained specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you find the support you need.
Whether you’re preparing for a storm, recovering afterward, or helping a neighbor find assistance, 2-1-1 can connect you with resources including:
- Housing and shelter
- Food assistance
- Mental health and crisis services
- Employment support
- Disaster relief
- Utility assistance
No matter the challenge, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Before the Storm
Preparedness starts long before severe weather appears in the forecast.
As you gather emergency supplies and make a family emergency plan, take a few moments to:
- Save 2-1-1 in your phone contacts.
- Share the number with family members, friends, and neighbors.
- Keep important documents in a safe, waterproof location.
- Build an emergency kit with water, nonperishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and phone chargers.
- Identify someone you can check on after a storm, especially an older adult or neighbor who may need extra assistance.
