Advancing the Common Good

York County is our home.  The story of home promises a place for everyone- a place that offers security, safety, inclusion and prosperity.  Yet too many in our community- our neighbors our friends, our family members- aren't able to get ahead.

Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.

That's why United Way's work is focused on helping 3,000 York County families achieve financial stability by 2030.

We have all heard the Chinese proverb "Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day.  Teach him to fish, and feed him for life."  United Way of York County, SC believes we must feed the hungry person and teach him/her to fish, but that an even bigger goal is to create a strong community which allows people to mature from childhood into "fishermen" right from the start.

United Way's goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems.  Living United means being a part of the change.  It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.
