We appreciate the efforts of local businesses to improve the health and wellness of their employees by encouraging healthy lifestyles in the workplace. To enhance those efforts we will host a workshop that can benefit both the company and the employee. On June 19, 2012, we are presenting "Creating a Workplace Supportive of New Mothers: Business Case for Breastfeeding" from 8:00am - 10:30am at Glencarin Gardens Learning Center at 825 Edgemont Avenue, Rock Hill, SC.
Supporting breastfeeding employees is good for business. Employers who provide a supportive environment to help women continue breastfeeding after childbirth discover many proven benefits that directly affect their bottom line. These include:
-Lower health care costs
-Lower turnover rates
-Lower absenteeism rates
-Highter employee productivity and morale
-Positive public relations in the community as a "family friendly" business
Studies have shown that one of the most common reasons for women not returning to work and/or discontinuing breastfeeding was not having a break time or a private place to express milk. Providing a lactation support program can be done with little investment of time and resouces. At this workshop, you will learn modes for providing lactation support, updated Federal Labor Law, best practices for providing lactation support, and the benefits for a lactation support program on your bottom-line.
Eat Smart More More York County recently received a grant from the Healthy South Carolina Initiative. One of the goals/objectives of the grant is to promote lactation support in the workplace. As part of this grant, we received funding to help establish a lactation support room. Attendees of this workshop will be eligible to apply for funding up to $1,000.
We invite your company to join the hundreds of mother-friendly companies across the United States that have implemented lactation support programs and experienced bottom-line benefits. We look forward to seeing you at the workshop "Creating a Workplace Supportive of New Mothers: Business Case for Breastfeeding" on June 19th at Glencarin Gardens Learning Center in Rock Hill
It's an investment that will multiply for years to come in better health and a better business!
