Denise Gethers, a senior Winthrop University Marketing major, has just started a Marketing/Research Internship at United Way of York County , SC. Gethers is currently enrolled in a Marketing Internship class, instructed by Dr. Keith Robbins, chair of the Marketing and Management Department for Winthrop University.   

Gethers, a 22-year-old Charleston, S.C. native, hopes to further her Marketing Research ability through this internship and gain a greater perspective of not just United Way, but the people who made the organization what it is today. 

“Denise’s research skills are proving to be invaluable as she updates the Community Report Card for release in the Spring,” Beth Covington, one of Gethers’ supervisors at United Way said.  “Having interns like Denise help United Way keep our costs down while providing students with real-life office experience. It’s a great win-win situation.” 

After graduation Denise plans to move to Washington DC and work for the federal government.  She would also like to further her education and get her MBA and her PHD in either Public Relations or Marketing.
